Right to Food: City of Milan and the University of Milan still protagonists. The Unesco chair to Livia Pomodoro
The city of Milan now has a Unesco chair dedicated to the right and access to food. This is the first Unesco Chair in our country dedicated to this topic and it was assigned to the University of Milan and to Livia Pomodoro, who has been working for the last five years as the president of Milan Center for Food Law and Policy, to maintain the ‘intangible heritage of Expo 2015. The new specialization course’ Nutrition between health, law and market ‘ within the Unesco Chair will be coordinated by Prof. Pier Filippo Giuggioli.
At the presentation Hilal Elver, UN Special Rapporteur for the Right to Food, underlined that “it is significant that this Chair has been assigned to Milan, because Italy already hosts other international organisations linked to the topic of food law and safety , like the FAO in Rome. It will also be a tool to recall politics to the urgency of these issues and to bring awareness and knowledge among the younger generations.”
More than one hundred people representing Institutions, Research Centers and private sectors signed a manifesto supporting Livia Pomodoro and hailing this nominee
